Rockfish Weatherwear Expands Its 26FW Winter Collection: How Far Can Its Winter Silhouette Go?

Should a brand release its winter collection all at once, or build it out in stages over the season? Every brand faces this choice when planning its seasonal assortment. Heritage brand Rockfish Weatherwear has chosen the second route. The brand said it is adding new boots, apparel and accessories to the 26FW winter collection it unveiled in September, broadening the range of its winter styling.

The starting point was the first drop in September. On September 18, Rockfish Weatherwear released the Cloudy Boots Mini (CLOUDY BOOTS MINI) and Cloudy Boots Short (CLOUDY BOOTS SHORT), along with fur mules and slingbacks. The Cloudy line is defined by a rounded oblique toe and a voluminous platform outsole. The new additions keep these signature features and change the construction of the upper shaft.

The new Cloudy Layered Boots and Cloudy Slouch Boots contrast a generously draped outer layer with a slim inner layer to create a sculptural, three-dimensional volume. Both styles feature straps for adjusting the shirring and fit. The voluminous platform outsole is designed to balance the softly flowing upper. The Cloudy Layered Boots feature shirring that gathers naturally along the ankle and shaft, and the leather straps let the wearer adjust the silhouette. According to the brand, the Cloudy Slouch Boots can be worn as a shirred, layered style or as a cleaner tall boot, making them easy to pair with a range of winter looks.

Alongside the Cloudy line, the brand also launched the Maxi Folded Belt Boots (MAXI FOLDED BELT BOOTS) and the Maxi Folded Stitch Boots (MAXI FOLDED STITCH BOOTS). Both pair a voluminous platform outsole with a 2-WAY fold design, so the shaft can be folded down or worn up for two different silhouettes. The Maxi Folded Belt Boots add natural shirring and a detachable buckle strap. The Maxi Folded Stitch Boots feature a plush fur lining, front stitching, a leather strap and a D-ring buckle, which give them a warm, three-dimensional look.

All four new boots share a clear common thread. Adjustable straps and fold-down shafts let a single pair create multiple silhouettes. In this reporter's reading, the approach of sharing the same platform outsole while varying only the upper keeps the design consistent across lines and expands customer choice at the same time.

Is footwear alone enough, then? This latest drop looks to apparel and accessories for the answer. The new Raglan Coat (RAGLAN COAT) has softly dropping raglan shoulders, a relaxed fit and brushed sleeve linings. The brand has also added knitwear and accessories, including beanies, balaclavas and gloves in heart and mixed cable patterns. Together, these pieces round out a 26FW winter collection that spans footwear to apparel.

The brand described the collection's direction as an expansion of silhouette. "With this winter collection, we wanted to propose a new winter look by adding structured silhouettes to the cozy, wintry feel Rockfish Weatherwear has consistently delivered," a brand representative said. "Following the Cloudy boots line we introduced in September, this new lineup, with its emphasis on layered and slouch constructions, will allow us to keep expanding Rockfish Weatherwear's own winter silhouette."

The new products in Rockfish Weatherwear's 26FW winter collection go on sale October 13 through the brand's official online store and major online and offline channels. In September, the Cloudy line set the brand's design template. In October, the brand added structural variations along with apparel and accessories. In this reporter's view, the rest of the season will show whether this move marks a step from a footwear-centered brand image toward a total winter look.
