French luxury fashion house Dior staged its Dior Summer 2027 Women's show, led by Jonathan Anderson, on September 29. The collection's theme is 'lightness,' which Dior said it explored through the house's techniques.

Dior's approach centered on its handling of materials. Tailoring was finished with the precision of dressmaking, while air was treated as a material in its own right, expressed through lightweight fabrics such as lace, silk muslin and organza. According to Dior, materials that move between transparency and opacity gave the collection its distinctly light, fluid sensibility.

What stands out this season is that the collection was not conceived as a self-contained statement; instead, it brought elements from a previous collection and from the men's line into womenswear. Elements of the Fall-Winter 2026-2027 collection were reborn as flower-like forms and volumes, pearlescent effects and cropped silhouettes. Added to these were more delicately designed details inspired by the Summer 2027 Men's collection, including sheer suit looks and metallic five-pocket pants. The construction reads as a deliberate effort to reveal the links between seasons and lines.

'Asymmetry' was presented as the collection's central idea, expressed through scarves draped long over the shoulder and earrings that drop under the weight of their gemstones. Iconic silhouettes from the early days of the house of Dior were reinterpreted in a new direction, and the jewelry was designed to be light and adjustable.

The accessories lineup expanded as well. New footwear included square-toe block heels, the new Dior Bow Sandal and the Dior Cigale shoe with a petal-shaped sole. The bag offering featured a new version of the Dior Double and the Dior Initial Hobo, along with compact leather silhouettes and a new biker-style bag.

Individual pieces carried ideas of their own. A silver minaudière was shaped after China's time-honored wenwan walnuts, while a mesh bag was adorned with a fringed silk scarf and sheer georgette petals. Dior said the collection as a whole reflects the flexible, light touch of the Dior ateliers in bringing innovative ideas to life, harmonizing delicate materials with intricate detailing.

The show was attended by BLACKPINK's Jisoo, Stray Kids' Hyunjin and Jang Won-young. Other global celebrities in attendance included Rihanna, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rosalía, Deva Cassel and Jennifer Lawrence.
