Premium outdoor brand Black Yak (Chairman Kang Tae-sun) announced on the 8th that it has unveiled its FW26 campaign, 'INVISIBLE WHITE.' The campaign tells the story of mountain rescuers who work to save stranded climbers on snow-covered peaks where even maintaining visibility is a struggle.
Black Yak portrays these rescuers, who appear on the scene when climbers are in danger, complete the rescue and then vanish back into the snowy mountains, through the concept of 'Ghosts of the White Mountain.' The brand explained that, through those who prepare for the unexpected and extend a helping hand when it matters most, it set out to highlight the value of the 'UNSUNG HERO' who dedicates themselves to the safety of others. The campaign also focuses on the importance of outdoor gear that protects the body and supports stable movement in harsh mountain conditions, including strong winds, snow and sudden temperature swings.
The campaign film is built around the story of Hannah Quatember, who works as a mountain rescuer in Austria. It opens with Hannah crossing a vast snowy mountainside and goes on to capture tense search operations for missing climbers and helicopter-assisted rescues. According to the brand, a scene in which Hannah emerges through the snow in 'whiteout' conditions, where everything in sight turns white, conveys the sense of mission that drives mountain rescue teams to protect lives even in extreme environments.
Black Yak has appointed Hannah as a brand ambassador and supplies her with high-performance products so she can carry out rescue missions more safely, even in unpredictable weather. The film shows Hannah and fellow rescuers wearing Black Yak gear while conducting rescues in fierce snowstorms, demonstrating the functionality and performance demanded in extreme conditions.
Beyond the rescue scenes, the film also follows Hannah's everyday life lived close to nature. Rather than depicting mountain rescuers solely as dramatic heroes, it focuses on the life and resilience of an individual who carries on her role in harmony with nature. Black Yak said this reflects its brand philosophy of viewing nature not as something to overcome or conquer, but as something to respect and live alongside.
"We wanted to speak to the meaning of the unsung heroes Black Yak has been shining a light on and to an attitude of respect for nature, while also showcasing Black Yak's own outdoor heritage of consistently developing high-performance products that help mountaineers stay safe," a Black Yak representative said. "We will continue to share Black Yak's brand philosophy through authentic stories of people who live closest to nature."
The campaign is the third chapter of the 'UNSUNG HERO' series Black Yak has been presenting since the beginning of the year. In March, the brand's global campaign 'THIS IS HIMALAYAN' featured Icefall Doctors, Sherpas and alpinists—those who carry out their duties behind the scenes to make outdoor activities safe. Its summer campaign, 'STILL BLUE,' then redefined haenyeo, the female divers who have long coexisted with the sea, as 'Sherpas of the Sea.' The brand said it is reinforcing its Himalayan original spirit and brand identity by continuing to tell the stories of people who live in harmony with nature.
